Stay tuned for the NEXT Millie Great Adventure.

Thank you to all of our friends and family who supported us in our adventure and stayed tuned-in over the miles.

An AMAZING ADVENTURE

All of the Millies had a wonderful adventure.
We have already started to plan the NEXT ONE.
STAY TUNED!

California, here we come, right back where we started from...

On the home stretch....

Barney and Carolyn Farley, of Goodyear, Arizona, treated the Millies to a grand evening of dinner and great laughter on the last evening of The Millie Great American Road Trip

The Millies could not resist the opportunity to take the TRADITIONAL FAMILY PIE to visit the Millie brother and sister-in-law since we were " in the neighborhood." But, the Farleys turned the tables on the Millies and treated us to a great dinner at their Club, a tour of the grand facility at Pebble Creek and a warm and gracious welcome to their beautiful southwestern home and outdoor living space.  Then they topped off the perfect evening with tons of laughter.

WAIT....we didn't SEE THAT STOP SIGN, Officer, HONEST.

Running stop signs or lights doesn't count when you are on a road trip.

Millies turned south into Phoenix...the landscape changed.

The environment changed from beautiful pines through Flagstaff to stately giant Saguaro Cactus.

The road in the southwest is full of history and culture.

A tree...before MIllies' Time

Millies stopped to tour the OPEN National Park at the Petrified Forest.

New Mexico Hot Air Balloon

Millies were very excited to see several real hot air balloons in the cool crisp sky this morning...but they were too small to show up in the pic. THIS balloon had us really excited as it was close enough to show up in a pic...only trouble is that it turned out to be an advertising prop.

The bottle is 2/30th full

This bottle of mouthwash was FULL at the beginning of the Millie Adventure of 30 days. Time...and mouthwash are running low.  Journey to Phoenix tomorrow and then return home.
It has all been COOL MINT.

Time to head for Cali...ICE

A hidden Treasure AND an OPEN NATIONAL PARK

Pat saved the day!

The Millies never meet a stranger. Millie D checked her map and found a Santa Fe Trails Museum along our route. Millie called the phone number to check on hours of operation. Pat, the new found Millie Friend assured Millie that she would be happy to open the museum JUST FOR THE MILLIES!

Any guesses what this is? An old time hair curler.
The giant shoe on the left was really worn by 8'11" Robert Wadlow, the world's tallest man, who was born in 1918. The black shoes on the left was really worn by the world's tallest Millie, who was born in 19.. ;-)
This is the only electric chair in the state of New Mexico. 6 men have been put to death in the chair by the state.

There are many artifacts of interest from the early days along the Santa Fe Trail in Springer, New Mexico. The museum is off Exit 414 on Highway 25 south on the road from Pueblo, Colorado to Santa Fe, New Mexico.  It is a great stop to stretch the legs and to discover some interesting history. Say Hi to Pat for the Millies.

Is that reindeer?

Madonna of the Trail in Colorado

Millies found a twin of our Euclid Ave, Upland, statue, Madonna of the Trail, in this small Colorado town near the border with Kansas along current Hiway 50. There are actually 12 of these statues dedicated by the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) to commemorate the spirit of the pioneer mothers. The statues are in the 12 states along the trail from Cumberland, Maryland to Upland, CA. The statues are all 18 ft tall.

The long drive from Dodge City Kansas was flat but told a lot of stories...

Several areas to the west still showed where the wagon trains traveled on their journey west. This monument marks one of the spots.

The old west was along this trail...now Highway 50 west.
The Arkansas River meandered around the highway numerous times.
And finally a relatively large city where we explored along the way.
